This painting is meant to reflect the ideas of calm, peace, and tranquility. As I painted the bamboo branches, Pam looked at them and said, “she didn’t really like the colors too well, because it made them look like, well, bamboo!” After I quit laughing, I pondered whether that was actually a compliment or an insult. So, I modified the colors to meet her interior decorating tastes, and now she loves it.
