Les Reu Art

Artist Profile

I was born and raised in the Midwest State of Iowa. I’m originally from the one-stop-light town of Donnellson, where I grew up riding my John Deere bicycle, and surrounded by John Deere equipment.

I was blessed with artistic talents from my earliest years. At the age of 13, my grandpa built a drawing table for my birthday, which I used for many of my earliest drawings.

In high school, I took two years of Art Classes and was interested in pursuing a career in Transportation Design. After only one semester of being an Art Major, I switched majors out of personal fears and quit drawing for nearly 14 years.

At the turn of the millennium in 2000, I wanted to know if I could still draw. After purchasing one large sheet of paper, a large box of crayons, and 200+ hours later, I finished my greatest drawing to date. It hangs in our house to this day. Over the next 18 years, I was still hesitant and only drew about five more drawings, which were all well received.

Then in 2018, my life dramatically changed. I turned 50, and was rescued into safety and freedom, and for the first time in my life, I uttered the words in absolute confidence and belief, “I am an Artist.”

Since then, the artist within me has been reawakened after decades of near silence. I have rediscovered who I was always meant to be and am enjoying my newfound artistic journey – one painting at a time.

Les Reu at his art table

I now make Granger, Iowa my hometown, along with my precious wife, Pam - and her many named house plants. She is God’s gracious gift to me, and I’m forever grateful for all her love and support. Pam graciously allowed me to convert one of our bedrooms into my in-home art studio. I call it My Sanctuary, as it is now my refuge for safety, peace, and creativity.

Les Reu Man of Faith

As a man of faith, I believe, my Creator, Created me, to be Creative – for His Praise, my Purpose, and your Pleasure.

“As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart.” – Proverbs 27:19.

Painting reflections from the heart,
