Table Mountain

2012 - Oil Paint on black canvas - 28” x 30”

This is my first oil painting. I was drawn to the rich colors of the sunrise and purple clouds. After owning an unopened beginner oil painting set and easel for 10 plus years, I finally gave it a try, and fell in love with oil painting. Table Mountain is the backdrop to Cape Town, South Africa. The foreground is the view from Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 27 years before being set free and being elected as the nation’s President. I had the privilege of going to South Africa on two Mission Trips in 2008 and 2010. This painting is in memory of my amazing experience with the wonderful people of South Africa.
